"...over the mountain you can hear him rolling along...
...memories on an angel's wing, gone up above to see the
Banjo King..."
Fayetteville Line by Greg Garrison
"hey Daniel (Gold) and the rest of you
folks-
"Fayetteville Line" is a song I wrote for
Mark- last time we were at Dave's on Dickson, (Sat, March 16, 02) our
lighting director Tom, told me that the previous time we were there he and
Mark had a banjo session out on the railroad tracks behind Dave's, hence
the Fayetteville Line. Here are the words-..."
take me back to that Fayetteville
Line take me back to that Fayetteville Line
take me back to that Fayetteville Line
laughin' and a pickin' and a feelin' fine
won't you take me back to that Fayetteville
Line
come and play that five for me (x3)
every time you did it would set me free
won't you come and play that five for me
the wind, it whispers through the night
if you listen, you can hear that banjo sigh
see the moon over that mountain (x3)
it makes me think of that 5 string song
over the mountain you can hear him rolling
along
memories on an angel's wing (x3)
gone up above to see the banjo king
keep those memories on an angels wing
the wind keeps blowing through my bones
if you listen you can hear that 5 string moan
the wind, it's blowing through the trees
that sound, it brings me to my knees
take me back to that Fayetteville Line (x3)
laughin' and a pickin' and a feelin' fine
won't you take me back to that Fayetteville
Line
"...our other new tunes include "Delta Queen"
and "Down in the Hollow" by Drew, "Take me Back to that Mountain Top" by
Vince, "Just Keep Walking" by Bill, and a couple of covers- Bill has been
singing "Blue House" by Marcia Ball, and I worked up a new arrangement of
"Down in the Willow Garden", an old folk tune sung by many an artist- this
one has been called "wendy's chineese liquor store" or "wendy's willow
garden" on setlists, but it's basically "Willow Garden" with some melodic
material I used from another song I wrote called "Wendy's chineese liquor
store", which is indeed a phrase coined by Mark. Hope you all enjoy the
new tunes, and we'll see you soon!"
